DJ Short is an almost mythological figure in cannabis cultivation. Having bred some of the most delectable crops in recent history--such as the irresistible Blueberry--while hardly appearing in public or the internet has led many to view him as the "Willy Wonka of Pot."
Sports and culture publication Grantland recently debunked some of Short's mystery in a stellar long feature depicting writer Jason Fagone's personal time with Short at the Seattle Hempfest earlier this year.
Reading more like "Frank Sinatra Has a Cold" rather than an informative news article, Fagone expertly narrates his time with Short while spilling revelations like the fact that DJ stands for "Daniel John" and that "Short" is not merely a disc jockeying name.
"Every breath I take," Short says, "there's someone on the planet, right now, taking a hit of something that passed through my hands. That's a trip. I can understand how Jerry Garcia might feel."
