New Activist Group Affirms Cannabis Users Can Be Good Parents

Parents who use marijuana are viewed by most of society as irresponsible, as evident by several Child Protective Services cases involved with cannabis.

New group Parents4Pot are here not only to prove that view wrong, but also to argue that using cannabis actually makes a parent better. The group says, "'Dad ate all the potato chips again' is always better than 'dad is passed out on the front lawn again.'"

The group was recently started by marijuana activist Mickey Martin, who believes kids are better off with pot-using parents rather than alcoholic ones.

"We believe we can use that same argument to end prohibition once and for all," Martin told SF Weekly. "Why are we taking their parents away for a safe, enjoyable and helpful plant? Why are we arresting poor and minority kids for pot at alarming rates and destroying less fortunate communities?"
